Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Zagel sends files, text and links between your own devices on the same local network. It has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Selny LTD, the publisher, never receives anything you send with Zagel or anything about how you use it.
What we collect
Nothing. Zagel contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking code, and it never connects to the internet. We have no server for it to connect to.
What stays on your device
- Device name. The name you give the device in Zagel. It is shown to other Zagel devices on your network so you can tell them apart.
- Known devices. Devices you have paired with: their name, platform, a random device ID, and the access tokens the two devices use to recognise each other. Tokens are kept in the system keychain or encrypted storage.
- Settings and recent transfers. Your receive preferences and a short list of recent transfers (names and times) so you can find what you received.
- Received items. Files you accept are saved where you choose (for example your Downloads folder or photo library). Received text is placed on the clipboard.
Deleting Zagel removes everything above except the files you saved, which stay where you put them.
What goes over your network
To find each other, Zagel devices announce themselves on your local network using Bonjour (mDNS) with their device name and platform. When you send something, it goes directly from one device to the other over an encrypted (TLS) connection on that network. It never passes through Selny LTD or any third party.
Permissions
- Local network: to find nearby devices and send or receive files.
- Photos (add only): on iPhone, only if you choose to save received photos or videos to your library.
- Notifications: on Android, to tell you about incoming items and keep receiving in the background.
Children
Zagel collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
